My 2014 Style Evolution

As we're approaching the end of December, the time has come to evaluate the year. And by 'evaluate the year' I really mean take a look back at some of my outfit posts from 2014. It's always a bit cringe looking back on old photos, but I think it's fun to see how my style has evolved over the year.

The time I mastered the one leg behind the other pose and developed an obsession for strappy sandals.

So that's my year in outfit posts! Do you have a favourite? I think my favourite season was summer. It was a hot one and those pleather shorts really saw me through.

This year I graduated from university, landed myself a new job (which I start next week!), traveled Scandinavia with my brother, relaxed in Portugal with my best friend, attended London Fashion Week both seasons and generally had a lot of fun. At the beginning of the year it wasn't certain that any of those things would happen, but I'm very thankful that they did. I think it's important to have goals and dreams but if there's one thing I've learnt this year it's that life is what happens while you're making other plans. Here's to an amazing 2014 and an even better 2015. Cheers!

The Perfect Christmas Gift

TOPSHOP coat (old)

Since this sparkly mermaid clutch bag of dreams arrived on my doorstep last week I have been carrying it with me absolutely everywhere. It started with a couple of Christmas parties and nights out, but slowly it started coming with me on lunch dates with friends and even a quick trip to the shops now and again. I guess if I can't wear sequins in the day time in December then... when can I?

On the opposite end of the festive accessory spectrum is my new Daniel Wellington watch. Minimal and oh so sophisticated. The black leather strap goes with everything and the white face with rose gold detailing is simply beautiful. A timeless classic that would be perfect for a last minute Christmas present.

(Psssst! Use code 'holidaysarahnunn' at the checkout for 15% off and order with express saver delivery by the 22nd December to get it in time for the big day!)

I'm off to enjoy a peaceful night before the madness of last minute Christmas shopping commences at work over the next few days. I hope you all have a happy holiday and I can't wait to see what Santa brings you all. ;-)

The Party Season Edit

Things are getting very festive around here. I've done some Christmas shopping, the tree is up and my schedule over the next couple of weeks is jam packed with Christmas parties and festive activities.

Of course I've already started planning my outfits and today I thought I'd share with you a few ideas for different occasions this party season.

The Work Christmas Party
Xmas Party 2

The office Christmas party is always a tricky one. You want to dress up and look festive but you also want to look appropriate as you'll be spending the evening with your colleagues... and your boss.

In my eyes this navy ASOS dress would be perfect as it is ultra sophisticated but still fun. With a masculine jacket thrown over the shoulders, a matching clutch bag (navy and grey is my fave colour combo ever), and some festive finishing touches - et voila! Perfect work party outfit.

Drinks With the Girls
Xmas Party 4

'Tis the season for glittery mermaid handbags. For a girls night out you can't go wrong with a little black dress. Or a little black jumpsuit in this case. I'll be amping up the festivity with a huge pair of heels and a beautiful statement clutch ready for a lot of cocktails and dancing with my best girlies this Christmas.

Dinner Date
 Xmas Party 3

Christmas meals out are another unavoidable occasion that seem to take over every weekend throughout December. Whether it's a work meal with your management team, a family get together or a simple dinner date with your significant other. There's no getting away from them.

As you'll probably be sitting at a table all evening it's really only the top half of the outfit that needs to do the talking. Other top tips include avoiding anything too high waisted or tight fitting if you're anything like me and like to indulge in a starter, main course and dessert. This seventies inspired outfit fits the bill pretty well and I'm especially drooling over that black and gold Olivia Burton watch *all the heart eye emojis*.

What is your must have party season staple this year?

Tartan Tailoring

 ASOS tartan suit & t-shirt

You know there's nothing I like more than masculine tailoring, and when I spotted this suit on my gorgeous friend Sophie a few weeks back I knew I needed it in my wardrobe. Tartan is a trend that reoccurs every Autumn / Winter so this matching two piece will be a staple that takes me through several seasons.

While usually I'd pair this outfit with a sleek pair of stilettos, the chilly weather got the better of me today so I opted for a pair of heeled ankle boots instead. The shiny bag is a new favourite from Paul's Boutique. It's the perfect size for everyday and has a very luxe feel with the chic, black patent combined with  sophisticated suede.

I can't help but feel like I'm channeling my inner Proudlock in this tartan tailoring. A bit of an unexpected style icon but a good one none the less.

Classic Camel Coat

NEW LOOK scarf
NEXT mules

The perfect camel coat is something I've lusted over for years. It is the epitome of sophistication and makes even the most laid back outfit of skinny jeans and a T-shirt look fabulous. Most high street stores have been offering variations on the classic style this season but surprisingly it was the simplicity of the Missguided one that caught my eye. No belt, no fastenings, no fuss - just pure perfection. The length of the coat is really flattering and the material feels thick and heavy, therefore making it look (and feel) a lot more expensive than it really is.

The outfit underneath the coat is actually what I wore to a job interview last week, but more on that another day. I think the burgundy cigarette trousers are a chic and seasonal alternative to the usual black and I thought they looked great partnered with the deep red tartan scarf and my amazing matching nails that I had done at WAH London for my Birthday. There's something very Victoria Beckham about a big, long coat over simple tailoring, all I'd need is a sleek ponytail and a huge pair of sunglasses and I'd be one step closer to nailing the VB look.

What's your must have item this winter?

Paul's Boutique Christmas Collection Launch 2014

We all remember Paul's Boutique from our teens, right? Loud clashing prints, "I <3 PB" symbols, those jackets worn by all the cool girls in year 10. Well it's time to forget the old Paul's Boutique and welcome the sophisticated, affordable, luxury brand that it has become.

I was lucky enough to attend the launch of the new Christmas collection at Westfield in London last week. The champagne was flowing and it was a great opportunity to have a sneak peek at the new range as well as catching up with the lovely ladies at Paul's Boutique and even meeting Paul himself!

The collection features gorgeous shades of cobalt blue, rich cream and dark grey with pops of animal print on luxe fabrics such as suede, patent and faux leather. The range varies from cute little clutches to office appropriate shoulder bags, and everything in between.

So what do you think of the new, grown up Paul's Boutique? I can't wait to share with you the little treat I took home from the party!

NEW LOOK skinny trousers
NEXT mules
PRIMARK fedora

Is this sheer, over-sized, sparkly forest green T-shirt not the most amazing thing you've ever seen? It's super slouchy and made of a really thin knit so it's comfy to wear during the day, but the sheerness and sparkle give it a little extra somethin' somethin', so it can totally work for evening too.

I think the general rule for over-sized clothing is to pair it with a clean silhouette so today I went for some skin tight black trousers and a sleek pair of heels. I finished off the look with my camel fedora which FYI was an absolute steal from Primark. I think this T-shirt would also look amazing half tucked in to a leather mini skirt and pair of high heels for a night out, or equally over a pair of flared jeans and ankle boots for a more casual vibe.

The Christmas party season is looming which means all the shops are filling up with beautiful glittery and metallic clothes. I'm a bit of a magpie at this time of year and will most definitely be picking up some more party appropriate bits over the next few weeks.

Are you down with the over-sized trend? How would you wear this T-shirt? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Halloween '14 | Half Skull

Happy Halloween!

I love to dress up for the occasion and this year I decided to be oh-so-unoriginal and go for a half skeleton / half normal person look. I've never really understood why this idea is so popular but I saw an amazing tutorial over on Nouvelle Daily so decided to give it a whirl. Obviously the make up artist made it look terribly easy and whilst I'd give myself an A for effort, I'd probably only get a low C for overall presentation. Not my finest hour but after a couple of cocktails I imagine it will smudge all over my face anyway.

This make up look is calling out for a Saint Laurent-esque tux and a pair of sky high heels to accompany it. Lady Gaga meets Zombie Boy style.

So tell me, what are you all dressing up as this Halloween?

PS. If you fancy taking a trip down memory lane then why not check out my Halloween post from last year.

Keepin' Cosy

ASOS flares
TOPSHOP mini bag
ADORNING AVA sunglasses*

You know how everyone has been tucking their hair into their jumpers lately and calling it a new season trend? Well, I think it's genius. If it means I can leave the house without even attempting to style my hair then you know I am 100% on board.

I've started investing in new knitwear that will see me through the next few months as it starts to get chilly. I got this gorgeous New Look turtle-neck in a few sizes too big for a bit of extra cosiness. It looks great over a chic pair of flared jeans or skinny leather trousers on a cold day, but it also works well with a flippy skirt and over the knee boots if you're feeling a little flirty.

As we're nearing the end of October that means it's that time of year again where I start to get really excited for my Birthday. I'm planning a girly day in London with my best gal pal - getting our nails done, going shopping, drinking cocktails - you know the drill. If any Londoners out there have any recommendations then please do let me know!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Blogs I Love

There's nothing I like more than finding inspiring blogs to read. Whether it's fashion, food, beauty, lifestyle or travel. You name it, I (probably) love to read it. Inspired by a recent post on Zoe London; I have decided to share with you some of my favourite blogs to read when I'm in need of some serious style inspiration, looking for an honest product review, or just fancy a general nosy into someone else's life.

The Little Magpie
Media Marmalade

I have been known to lose whole afternoons browsing these ladies' fab beauty blogs and watching their YouTube videos. I always love reading and watching people talk about their passions, and these girls know a thing or two about make-up that's for sure. Special shout out to Karima from Shameless Fripperies (pictured above) whose tutorials are absolutely incredible, I'm seriously in awe of her mad skills.

Blue Jeans

TOPSHOP clutch bag
ASOS jeans
ZARA shirt
PRIMARK loafers

The temperature has definitely dropped this weekend and it's finally starting to feel like Autumn around here. I'm looking forward to having my first pumpkin spice latte of the season and starting to see all the pretty red leaves start to drop off the trees, not to mention putting the Christmas decorations up at work next week... yep, really! I love this time of year.

Anyway, I recently got a pair of blue ASOS Ridley jeans as I decided endless pairs of skinny black jeans weren't cutting it anymore and I wanted a little colour variation. This pair are very high waisted and finish just at the ankles, which makes them pretty flattering on my Bambi legs. I chose a pair in a light wash with busted knees but they have hundreds of variations of the same style. Blue jeans are proving to be a bit of a challenge to someone like myself who is so used to good ol' black skinnies and I haven't ventured very far away from they grey and white colour palette just yet.

Today I paired my new ripped jeans with a basic white shirt, a pair of loafers, and my favourite statement fluffy bag. It was the perfect outfit for a quick trip to the shops on this a-bit-chilly-but-very-sunny afternoon. The best thing about this bag is wearing it under my arm and giving it a cuddle to keep warm. Is that weird?

Let me know how you'll be wearing your classic blue jeans this season!

Wardrobe Update for AW14

TOPSHOP coat, trousers, belt
ALDO boots

The easiest way to update your old coat into a piece suitable for the new season? Easy! Just add a belt...

Belted coats were all over the AW14 catwalks from Topshop Unique to Burberry, and now the high street are getting in on the action too. I've seen gorgeous examples from Zara and the likes, but I recently got to thinking - why not save my money and make my own? I still have a lot of love for my Topshop boyfriend coat, and it's served me well over the past couple of years. So, I decided against rushing to replace it, and instead just updated it by cinching in the waist with a skinny studded belt.

I paired my belted coat with some faux leather trews, a trusty pair of ankle boots and a mini clutch bag, creating a simple Autumn day look, perfect for jumping around in the fallen leaves. Of the entire outfit, the only recent addition is the Paul's Boutique bag, fresh from their new collection. It's made of a beautiful grey suede and has a contrasting luminous yellow strap. It's a cute little addition to my Autumn wardrobe and mini bags are another trend which are set to stick around for a while.

Let me know how you are updating your wardrobes for the new season!

Autumn Topshop Lusting

Pay Day Topshop Lusting

Pinstud bootsPlaysuitCamel CoatOxblood suitRipped jeansSandalsSunglasses, Nail polish

Today is my favourite day of the month... pay day! Unfortunately for me I have my car insurance, service and MOT due very soon, so most of my money will be being spent on that, and not on pretty clothes from Topshop. :(

That being said, you know I like a little online window shop now and again and that is exactly what I've been doing this morning. It's nearly October and the Autumnal vibes are officially setting in. I'm now lusting after coats, boots and all things burgundy. I also recently discovered that I don't have any blue jeans any more, so that needs to be rectified. Plus I really want to jump on the busted knee bandwagon.

What are you lusting after at the moment?
